An unforgettable journey through Kenya’s untamed landscapes perfect for active travelers seeking wildlife, hiking, and cultural immersion....
Book / ViewThis itinerary takes you through some of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations, from the breathtaking landscapes of Amboseli with its backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro to the rugged terrain of Tsavo West and the vast open plains of Tsavo East, before concluding in the coastal paradise of Mombasa
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, passing through the plains of Kajiado County. Upon arrival, a game drive introduces the park’s abundant wildlife, including large herds of elephants, lions, cheetahs, and giraffes. Amboseli is particularly famous for its elephant population, often seen wandering across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro as a majestic backdrop.
Lunch is served at your booked lodge or tented camp within the park, followed by an afternoon rest. In the late afternoon, another game drive offers spectacular photography opportunities as the setting sun casts a golden glow over the park.
Dinner and overnight at your booked camp/lodge
A full day in Amboseli allows for an immersive wildlife experience. An early morning game drive offers the best chances to see predators such as lions and hyenas before they retreat from the heat. The morning also provides clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds set in.
After breakfast, a visit to Observation Hill offers panoramic views of the park’s swamps, woodlands, and vast plains. These swamps are fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow and attract a variety of wildlife, including hippos, buffalos, and a diverse range of bird species.
Following a picnic lunch or a break at the lodge, an optional cultural visit to a Maasai village provides insight into the traditional lifestyle of the Maasai people. The afternoon is spent on another game drive or at leisure at the lodge before an evening meal and overnight stay.
Departing from Amboseli, the journey continues to Tsavo West National Park, one of Kenya’s most scenic parks characterized by rolling hills, lava flows, and dense bush. The first stop upon arrival is the famous Shetani Lava Flows, a dramatic black volcanic landscape formed by historic eruptions.
A game drive through the park reveals a variety of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and lesser kudu. The park’s thick vegetation makes animal spotting more challenging but rewarding. Lunch is enjoyed at your safari lodge/camp before visiting Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground streams from Kilimanjaro. Here, hippos and crocodiles can be observed from an underwater viewing chamber.
The afternoon game drive explores the Rhino Sanctuary, home to the endangered black rhino. As the sun sets, the landscape takes on a mystical beauty, providing perfect opportunities for photography.
Dinner and an overnight stay at your booked lodge/camp.
After breakfast, the adventure continues towards Tsavo East National Park, known for its vast open plains and red-dust-covered elephants. This park is one of Kenya’s largest and offers excellent opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, and large herds of elephants.
A game drive through the park showcases the unique landscape, including the Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow. The Lugard Falls, a series of white-water rapids on the Galana River, provide another fascinating stop.
Lunch is served at your safari lodge or tented camp, followed by an afternoon game drive focusing on spotting Tsavo’s famous “Man-Eaters of Tsavo” lions, which have a fascinating history linked to the construction of the railway in the late 19th century.
Dinner and overnight stay at your booked lodge/camp
After an early morning game drive and breakfast, the journey continues towards the Kenyan coast, where you will be dropped at Voi train station for your train to Mombasa with a scenic drive to Mombasa. Along the way, there is a chance to spot more wildlife and take in the changing landscapes as the terrain transitions from the dry savannah to the lush coastal region.
Upon arrival in Mombasa, guests can check into their resort and unwind by the ocean. The rest of the day is at leisure, with options to explore Old Town, Fort Jesus, or relax along the pristine beaches of Nyali, or Bamburi.
